The new law prohibits people who who own North Port real estate and are are the subject of certain no-contact orders or who have been convicted of a crime of domestic violence from possessing a firearm or ammunition.More than half – 111 of 205 – of Iowans killed in domestic abuse murders since 1995 were killed by guns, including 26 kids and bystanders, according to Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller. Miller’s office has advocated for the bill for a decade.
